What are Radiology Rounds?

For years, veterinary radiologists have been traveling to veterinary clinics and to hold rounds sessions with RDVMs. It is recognized by all involved that this type of one-on-one interaction is needed to improve radiograph interpretation skills. As they say, “You can’t learn to read films from a book!.” But now you can have a nationally-recognized leader in veterinary radiology education hold rounds at your hospital through the convenience of the Internet...

Every other week, Dr. Eric Hergesell holds online, interactive radiology rounds. During each rounds session, Dr. Hergesell highlights his approach to imaging and radiograph interpretation through the exploration of several radiograph studies in each rounds session. During the rounds session, all veterinarians will also be able to ask questions and directly interact with Dr. Hergesell.

The AAVR radiology rounds are the most cost-effective way to improve your radiograph interpretation skills and obtain CE credit. For just over the price of a single in-house radiology rounds session, you can get a year's worth of CE with a nationally-recognized leading educator in veterinary radiology.

Six CE credits are available for each six-month rounds course. In order to obtain one CE credit, each veterinarian must attend two rounds sessions (e.g. no 1/2 credits allowed). Subscribing veterinarians will also be given access to view all images and videos for six months following the end of the rounds course.

What should I expect?

Before each rounds session, veterinarians will be provided with several radiograph studies for interpretation. Each study will demonstrate a principle of interpretation or disease process, and these cases will be reviewed online. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the instructor during the rounds session.

When are the Online Sessions?

Rounds sessions are biweekly on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. PST/ 12 p.m. EST for six months. If you miss a session, you will still be able to view the video and images but you will not receive CE credit.

We are currently not holding a rounds series but we are anticipating that the next one will be in late 2010 and will focus on the abdomen.
