The mission of the AAVR is to promote responsible imaging in veterinary medicine. The AAVR was founded by a group of veterinary radiologists who were concerned about the level of imaging education being offered to veterinarians and veterinary technicians. In the past, imaging education was largely provided to the veterinary community in an effort to sell imaging equipment. These, albeit often times well meaning, attempts at imaging education fell short of the mark resulting in missed diagnoses, inappropriate patient care and unnecessary expense to the pet owner. The AAVR encourages veterinarians to understand that imaging education takes time and close mentorship during the education process. Our mission is to promote responsible imaging in veterinary medicine through certification programs, educational courses, and practice guidelines for the veterinary profession. The AAVR does not sell imaging equipment and does not have preferred associations with any imaging vendor. Our only goal is to educate and improve veterinary patient care. It is through this focused and passionate approach to veterinary imaging and imaging certification that we hope the AAVR will become recognized as the standard for responsible imaging in veterinary medicine. |
